The photos above were in the Hopedale town report of 1913. When I was in the Park Street School in the late forties, May Day was still celebrated. Some of the girls would come to school in white dresses, and we’d go over to the park where the May pole dance was performed.

Interesting that May Day in 1913 was right in the middle of the IWW strike against the Draper Company, which was a very big deal. Click here to read about it. DM
