Hopedale Pond and Parklands on sunny Groundhog Day.

    If Candlemas Day be fair and bright,
    Winter will have another fright;
    But if it be dark with clouds and rain,
    Winter is gone and will not come again.

    The day is still awaited by many in
    America, only under a new name --
    Groundhog Day.  David Freeman Hawke,

Fire at 145-147 Hopedale Street. Milford News article.

    I recently received a question on Facebook about the whereabouts of the piece of plane wing
    shown in the picture above. The picture is from the Draper Corporation publication, Cotton
    Chats, and the piece of the wing was sent back to Hopedale by Ferdinand "Fanny" Spadoni.
    If you know anything about it, please let me know, and I'll pass the information on to the
    grand-nephew of Fanny who was the one who asked about it.

    Fanny was a gunner on a B-25. He was killed when his plane was shot down over the
    Pacific. Click here for more about him.
